Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are hoping their star isn’t tempted away with a return to Italy after the Daily Mail revealed that Juventus were weighing up a move for Spurs’ struggling forward Erik Lamela.
The Argentinian international, who joined the North London club from Roma in 2013 for £25m, earned the move after lighting up the stage in Serie A.
The 23-year-old has been unable to recreate his form in the Premier League and has struggled to live up to his big price tag after being initially seen as the person to step into Gareth Bale’s shoes.
Juventus, who are on course to do the treble in Italy, are considering a bid to take Lamela back to Italy, where he was so successful.
It would be hard for Daniel Levy to recoup the full £25m they paid for him but he will do his best to drive up the price to give Mauricio Pochettino as much money as possible to transform his side.
