Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are optimistic for the future with the transfer window now officially open – their summer spending can begin.
Spurs ended the season in third, crucially securing Champions League football at their new stadium next season. Mauricio Pochettino knows they have a huge summer ahead of them if they are to challenge for the title. Signings are needed to revamp the squad and compete with Manchester City.
A new forward should be high on the Argentine’s agenda as he looks to lessen the goalscoring burden on Harry Kane’s shoulders. One man on his shortlist should be Valencia star – Rodrigo.
The former Bolton Wanderers loanee has enjoyed the best season of his career, netting 19 goals in all competitions, which has seen his market value soar to £22.5m according to Transfermarkt. His form means he has a strong chance of starting for Spain at the upcoming World Cup after firing Valencia back in the Champions League.
Rodrigo can play centrally or on the right wing making him an invaluable asset for Pochettino. The 27-year-old is approaching his prime and has bags of pace which would make him a menace for Premier League defences. Tottenham have struggled to land someone who act as both cover and competition in equal measure for Kane, and Rodrigo could be the ideal option on that front.
If his form continues, it could prove to be a bargain for the Lilywhites.
