Tottenham are yet to make a signing in the summer window with deadline day fast approaching.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side secured a place in the top four of the Premier League last season. The Lilywhites have guaranteed Champions League football at their new home next campaign, but the lack of transfer activity will be worrying Tottenham fans. The majority of transfer talk has surrounded outgoings rather than incomings.
Mousa Dembele has been linked with a switch to Inter Milan while Toby Alderweireld is wanted by Manchester United. Should Alderweireld leave, Pochettino could receive a windfall from his sale. With Jan Vertonghen and Davidson Sanchez already at the club, the money could be invested into other areas.
Manchester City strolled to the title using both Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in attack. While Tottenham have one of the best forwards in the world in Harry Kane, the England international lacks a world-class striker partner alongside him. Therefore, Spurs should attempt to sign Ciro Immobile from Lazio.
Valued at £45m by Transfermarkt, the Italian has set the Serie A alight this season. The 28-year-old was one of the highest scorers in the world last season, bagging an incredible 47 goals in 49 appearances during all competitions. He also chipped in with nine assists in the Serie A, showing he is not a one-trick pony.
Despite his troubles at Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla, Immobile has established himself as one of the top forwards in Europe. Alongside Kane, Tottenham would have one of the most feared attacks in the league – one that could potentially fire them to the Premier League title.
