Spurs showed against Man City just how deadly their attack can be, and if they manage to snap up Wilfred Zaha they’ll have one of the most feared front lines in Europe.
The Lilywhites are lacking the pace to really tear through teams, so who better to sign than Zaha who’s simply electric on the wing and then when he cuts inside too. The Express believe Spurs agree and are eyeing up a £65m bid for him this summer.
He’s scored nine and assisted eight in 31 appearances for Palace this season, so image what he’d do in a superior Spurs team. He’d be playing with much more talented players to boost those contributions sky high. He’s ready for that next step.
Just imagine Harry Kane, Son Yeung-min, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Wilfried Zaha. That’d be enough to scare any back line, and it’d mean Spurs have too many forwards for the opposition to think about, creating space for at least one or two.
The Ivorian has even been likened to Messi by his ex-coach Frank De Boer, and even though his failure at the club was well documented, that high praise from such a legendary ex-player should set alarm bells ringing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Yes, we know the Messi comparison is a bit much but Zaha himself recently compared himself (as per the Daily Mail) to the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele in terms of dribbling ability, so he’s certainly in fairly esteemed company.
He might cost a fortune, but he’s just 26-years-old and has the ability to reach the very top, just like this Spurs side. It’s that fresh impetus, giving Pochettino another wonderful weapon as Spurs search for the next level. Indeed, it’d be an investment for the future and would certainly prove better value than 28-year-old Riyad Mahrez’s switch to Manchester City for £60m.
