Spurs patrons in the Transfer Tavern are gathering round the bar, listening to the latest gossip from our landlord.
He’s been reading Dean Jones’ column on BleacherReport, which claims Tottenham will pursue a move for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha during the summer transfer window.
It’s alleged that the north London club strongly considered a £25million bid for the Ivory Coast international in January, but Zaha ended up staying on at Selhurst Park.
The one-time Manchester United signing has enjoyed a fantastic season with his boyhood club, bagging five goals and six assists in 25 Premier League appearances whilst averaging the third-most dribbles per match – a whopping 4.2 – of any player in the division.
It’s further added that Zaha’s potential arrival would put Moussa Sissoko and Erik Lamela at risk of being sold, having struggled to prove their worth at White Hart Lane.
The Argentina international has spent most of the season on the sidelines and is now ruled out for the remainder of the campaign due to a hip injury, whilst powerhouse Sissoko has made just six Premier League starts since his big-money move from Newcastle United last summer.
Spurs patrons in the Tavern reckon Zaha would be a decent addition, but not one who can take the club to the next level.
