The resident Lilywhites in the Transfer Tavern have been rather underwhelmed with their sides opening to the current Premier League campaign.
Tottenham Hotspur have failed to reach the high standards they set for themselves last season within the first-half of the 2017/18 season and consequently, they look set for a battle to achieve a top-four finish rather than a title-challenge that was expected in pre-season. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have shown glimpses of brilliance this season, especially in the Champions League where they have truly excelled, but the consistency they demonstrated during last season has been lacking so far.
The punters clad in Tottenham white in the tavern have bemoaned their club’s current stadium arrangement and scapegoated Wembley for many of their problems, but that argument isn’t satisfactory in explaining the full extent of the clubs struggles in recent months.
One of Tottenham’s main problems on the field has been their lack of attacking-inspiration and intensity in the final-third that typically characterised everything that was good about the club in last seasons campaign.
With that being said, it is no surprise to hear that Pochettino is currently interested in bringing Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa to North-London according to The Sun.
At just 20-years-old, the Italian right-winger is one of Europe’s most promising talents.
Although his record at Fiorentina is not quite ground-breaking, considering his age, his performances in the Italian top-flight, and the calibre of club he is playing for, Chiesa looks to have an extremely bright future ahead of him.
Chiesa has the ability to pick up the ball inside the final-third of the pitch drive at his opponents with pace and trickery – a quality which has often been lacking from the Lilywhites displays this season.
If Tottenham want to strengthen their attacking performances with the injection of flair and pace in wide areas, they should look no further than Chiesa who looks to possess the ability to take the English top-flight by storm.
