Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting the side to strengthen over the summer as they will be looking to compete across all competitions next season.
Mauricio Pochettino is keen to end the drought that surrounds Spurs when it comes to lifting a trophy, and will know that he needs to make a couple of additions to give them a better chance of achieving those aims.
However, he could be about to lose one of his players, albeit a fringe man, this summer as he looks to return back to his homeland. And that’s because, according to a report by El Gol Digital, Fernando Llorente wants to return to Spain, and reportedly has two possible suitors.
The former Swansea City striker, who only arrived at the North London club last summer, is attracting interest from both Alaves and Real Valladolid, and it is believed Spurs will not stand in the 34-year-old’s way of leaving if they receive an offer for him.
And were Pochettino’s men to indeed sanction the £6.3 million-rated star’s departure (as per Transfermarkt), it is unlikely to faze our resident Spurs fans too greatly given how little he offered the team last season.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Tottenham fans in the Tavern will not be too disappointed if Llorente did leave the club this summer, as many did have questions about what he would bring to the side when he first joined.
The Spaniard has featured 31 times for the North Londoners – however, he managed to net just five goals and it is highly unlikely that he will displace Harry Kane from his first-team spot.
