Ahead of the summer transfer window, there’s just one issue on the minds of Spurs patrons in the Transfer Tavern – who Mauricio Pochettino will bring in to support Harry Kane next season.
When fully fit the England international has fired on all cylinders this term, earning himself a nomination for the PFA Player of the Year award with 20 goals in 24 Premier League appearances.
But Kane endured a slow start to the season and has missed portions of the campaign through injury – and Spurs have lacked a viable understudy in his absence.
Heung-min Son has produced in the central striker role on occasion but is more of a wide forward by trade, whereas summer signing Vincent Janssen has scored just twice in the Premier League since arriving from the Eredivisie last summer.
According to The Telegraph, the Lilywhites are amongst a number of clubs monitoring Burnley’s Andre Gray, who represents a potential answer to the question of Kane’s understudy and is valued by Transfermarkt at £8.5million.
Spurs fans in the Tavern view Gray’s return this season, eight goals in 24 Premier League starts, as a little underwhelming, but our landlord reckons it’s decent enough considering Burnley have only netted 33 times overall in the top flight.
