Premier League

A surprising move for this 27-year-old could just bolster Tottenham enough for a league win

Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to seeing their side getting going this season as they are hoping for a real tilt at the Premier League title.

The men from north London enjoyed another fine season and, though it ultimately ended in disappointment, there is plenty of reason for fans to be confident that the club is going to move forward and win the division this time around.

Fans by the bar, though, would have liked to have seen the club sign some players before now with the squad looking the same as last year but for the players have left.

Indeed, our landlord reckons the club should have signed some players before now and one rather left-field option he has suggested is Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool.

Clearly, the French defender is available for a move from the Anfield side this summer and Spurs certainly have the money and, more importantly, the need to try and sign a new defender – even as back-up.

Indeed, whilst Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are top class options to have in your first team, Eric Dier struggled there and Kevin Wimmer isn’t good enough so a back-up is needed.

Indeed, with Champions League football on the agenda for the club, there’s much need for the club to bolster its options and after Sakho proved his ability in helping Crystal Palace stay up last season, he could be ideal to come in and help Spurs keep up their miserly defensive record.
