It’s news that Tottenham supporters sat in the Football Transfer Tavern didn’t want to hear but it’s being reported that Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to bid £85 million for Gareth Bale as they seek to take on Real Madrid for a possible summer transfer.
Mail Online reporters Sami Mokbel and Simon Jones have arrived in the tavern to explain to punters that the French champions are already pursuing Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas and want him to bring Bale along to the French capital.
However their pursuit is not limited to Villas-Boas becoming manager and they are reportedly willing to make the huge offer to beat off competition from Real Madrid even if Villas-Boas decides to stay in London.
PSG, who are backed by Qatar Sports Investment owned by the Qatari royal family, have spent over £200 million on transfer fees since 2011 yet they are still prepared to pay a world record fee for Bale alongside huge wages.
It is important they recruit well this summer given the spending spree at Ligue 1 rivals Monaco and the capture of Bale would certainly send out a statement of intent to the rest of Europe.
Daniel Levy has already told interested parties that Bale is not for sale this summer but if PSG make an official offer, it could prove very difficult to turn down.
Will PSG follow up this interest? Can Spurs reject a figure of £85m? Rate this rumour below.
