Tottenham supporters have been significantly more upbeat in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side put their Champions League heartbreak behind them by coasting past Bournemouth 4-1 in the Premier League on Sunday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men bowed out of Europe’s elite competition last week after losing 4-3 on aggregate to Italian giants Juventus, having lost 2-1 at Wembley on Wednesday night. And there did appear to be some sort of European hangover in the early stages at the Vitality Stadium as well given Junior Stanislas’ seventh minute opener for the Cherries, yet Spurs hit back admirably as a brace from Son Heung-min alongside strikes from Dele Alli and Serge Aurier sealed a resounding win for Pochettino’s side, in turn moving them up to third place in the Premier League table.
Subsequently, there have been many happier Tottenham fans in the Tavern in the last few days, and they are likely to be further intrigued by a recent report from RMC Sport, which suggests that their club have contacted in-demand star Malcom about a possible move to North London.
The 21-year-old currently plays his trade at Bordeaux and has done so since 2016, in which time he has certainly proven his credentials with 19 goals and 15 assists in 87 appearances for the club, eight goals and seven assists of which coming this season.
And his fine form for the Ligue 1 outfit has attracted much interest from around Europe in recent times, with Pochettino’s Spurs one side reportedly keen on the Brazilian youngster during the January transfer window.
But with German giants Bayern Munich also thought to be interested, it very much remains to be seen whether Spurs can indeed get their man come the summer.
Landlord’s verdict: Malcom has been in sensational form for Bordeaux in the last few years, and at the tender age of 21, he looks set for an extremely bright future in the game.
As such, there has been interest in the winger in recent times with Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Tottenham all thought to be interested, although none were able to get a deal done in the January window.
Nonetheless, that doesn’t appear to have put Mauricio Pochettino off, as reports suggest that Spurs have upped the ante by reportedly approaching the player’s representatives in recent times over a possible deal.
Malcom would undoubtedly be a great addition to the Tottenham squad, but with other European heavyweights circling, it remains to be seen whether Spurs can get a deal done.
