A host of promising youngsters left Tottenham during the summer transfer window.

Mauricio Pochettino has gained a reputation for developing young players with stars such as Harry Kane and Harry Winks excelling under his leadership. Therefore, it was shocking to see many promising youngsters leave the club’s academy in the summer. Wonderkid forward Reo Griffiths ended his association with the club to join Lyon while Keanan Bennetts was sold to Borussia Monchengladbach. Also following them through the exit door was Noni Madueke who turned down a contract offer to move to PSV Eindhoven.

Only time will tell whether Spurs will rue the decision to allow the youngsters to leave the club but should be taking steps to bolster their youth ranks following the departures. One man they should be keeping tabs on is Nottingham Forest youngster – Arvin Appiah.

The 17-year-old is widely regarded as the club’s brightest prospect after becoming a regular in the England youth setup. A pacey, tricky winger with an eye for goal, Appiah is knocking on the door and close to breaking into Aitor Karanka’s first team plans with the Reds. The youngster was on target for his country yet again recently, helping England’s U18 cruise to a 4-0 victory over Sweden last week.

Appiah has the potential to be one of the best players in the country and Tottenham should be monitoring his development very closely. Breaking into the first-team at Forest would bring more eyes to his performances and increase competition for his signature. Spurs must move quickly to secure one of the country’s brightest talents before their rivals beat them to the punch.
