Tottenham made it two wins from two in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory against Fulham at Wembley.
Spurs were in complete control in the first-half, and Lucas Moura opened the scoring with an excellent curling effort – his first goal in the Premier League since signing from Paris St Germain last year. Aleksandar Mitrovic levelled the score before Kieran Trippier found the back of the net with a wonderful free-kick. Harry Kane scored his first ever goal in August minutes later to secure the win.
Mauricio Pochettino will be delighted with his side’s start to the season after not making a single transfer in the summer window. He will be hoping to continue their form against Manchester United next week. Despite the window slamming shut, Tottenham could still add to their squad this month.
One man they definitely consider signing is former Juventus midfielder – Claudio Marchisio. Valued at £6.3m by Transfermarkt, the Italian left the club this summer after spending an incredible 25 years with the Old Lady. He won seven Serie A titles and four Italian cups with Juve making over 380 appearances for the Italian giants.
With Victor Wanyama currently injured and Harry Winks short of match fitness, moving for Marchisio could be a smart move by the Lilywhites. Mousa Dembele is still being linked with a move away from Wembley, and the 32-year-old would be an excellent replacement.
Signing Marchisio would go against Spurs’ policy of signing young players, but they have nothing to lose with a free transfer. The midfielder has vast amounts of experience in European football and has played in some of the biggest fixtures in the world.
This one should be a no-brainer.
