Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are nervously preparing for tonight’s clash with Crystal Palace, as they look to reduce their seven-point deficit to Premier League leader’s Chelsea.
Many fans in the bar have indicated they’ll be keeping a close eye on Eagles winger Wilfred Zaha tonight, following regular links that suggest Mauricio Pochettino’s side are keen on moving the Ivorian ace across London this summer.
However, our landlord has pointed out reports from The Sun, which indicate Sam Allardyce’s side are in talks to double Zaha’s current wages to £120k-a-week to keep him at Selhurst Park, making him one of their highest earners in the process.
A new deal is prepared amidst growing interest in Zaha, as Palace look to ensure they don’t lose the services of their 24-year-old, who still has three-years remaining on his current contract with the South London side.
Whilst Tottenham will be able to offer similar wages and Champions League football, our landlord believes regular opportunities are key to Zaha’s development – and therefore Crystal Palace remain as the best environment for him.
