Club reportedly set price on Spurs target that’d make him Tottenham’s record signing

Despite a strong few seasons in the Premier League, the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager to see Mauricio Pochettino strengthen his squad as soon as possible, in the build-up to next term.

Few would argue against the idea that Spurs boast one of the strongest starting XIs on these shores, though our local Lillywhites all seem to strongly agree that adding a few supplements here and there is exactly what is needed.

So, reports emanating out of Portugal have intrigued some of our north London locals today. According to A Bolathose from Hotspur Way have made a second bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva, as they attempt to land some much-needed reinforcements.

The Euro 2016 winner is understood to have been the subject of a €20m offer – one rejected by the Portuguese giants – and Spurs are said to have discussed the notion of a €25m bid + €5m in potential add-ons.

Though the Sporting captain certainly impressed our punters with his performances during last year’s European championships, the idea of paying such a fee for him isn’t wholly popular amongst our resident Spurs fans.

For their part, the Portuguese giants are thought to aiming for €35m if they are to sell the 28-year-old this summer, a fee that’d make him Tottenham’s record signing.
