The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been getting a good chuckle out of Alasdair Gold on Football.london this morning, as he’s reminded the fan base of the days where Arsenal fans used to compare Mesut Ozil to Christian Eriksen. Both playmakers relocated to North London in 2013, with Eriksen going from strength to strength whilst Ozil succumbed to mediocrity.
Is the Eriksen/Ozil debate even a thing any more? https://t.co/CzMRimrDA4

At this moment in time, Christian Eriksen would walk into any club’s starting eleven on this planet. Tottenham’s great Dane has proven time and time again that he can mix it up with the best players in the world and after his superbly taken goal for Denmark yesterday it was no surprise to see fans of all clubs applauding the Spurs playmaker. Fortunately for Tottenham fans, long gone are the days when Ozil > Eriksen was an opinion.
The 26-year-old midfielder joined Tottenham in 2013 and gave everyone a glimpse of what was to come when he provided Gylfi Sigurdsson with two assists on his Premier League debut. Since then, he’s gone on to add another 50 assists and 41 goals in the Premier League for the Lilywhites. Next season will be key for Eriksen as he’ll be looking for his first piece of silverware in North London and will have to live up to his very high creative standards to deliver that for the expectant Spurs fans.

As you can see from the Spurs fans in the Tavern, there is no envy that Arsenal have Mesut Ozil and fans would not hesitate to claim their midfield maestro is the better player.
