Deadline day is approaching, and Tottenham still haven’t made a move in the transfer window.
Business concludes on August 9th after Premier League clubs voted to close the window before the season commences. With just two weeks left, Tottenham are yet to make a signing. With their Premier League rivals spending big, they are in danger of being left behind.
Mauricio Pochettino is eager to bolster his forward line and lessen the goalscoring burden on Harry Kane shoulders. Reports linked the Lilywhites with Brazilian forward, Malcom, who recently completed a move to Barcelona. Instead, the Argentine should look to the Eredivisie for his first summer signing.
Tottenham would be wise to land Ajax superstar – David Neres. Valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, the Brazilian forward enjoyed a stellar campaign in Holland. The Brazilian netted 14 goals and registered 11 assists for his team-mates in just 28 Eredivisie starts.
Neres loves cutting in from the right onto his favoured left foot. The 21-year-old is an excellent dribbler and averaged 3.6 per game last year – more than any other Tottenham player. His creative abilities will have Kane licking his lips with Neres averaging 2.2 key passes per game from the right wing (WhoScored); only Christian Eriksen averaged more in the Spurs squad.
Pochettino has a reputation for bringing the best out of young players, and the Brazil U20 international would thrive under his tutelage. The youngster could prove to be the next Premier League sensation.
