Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted with our landlord, who claims their club has no intention of selling Eric Dier to Manchester United.
The 17-cap England international was a key part of the Lilywhites’ title bid last season but has been forced to accept more of a squad role this term, filling gaps in midfield in defence, and his overall form has waned in comparison to 2015/16.
Earlier this week, The Telegraph reported that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is desperate to take the 23-year-old off the north London outfit’s hands this summer, and would be prepared to pay a whopping £40million to make the transfer deal happen.
It was further added that Dier sees his long-term future in the engine room rather than at the back, and that Mourinho would be prepared to offer him more game-time in that position – something United punters in the Tavern reckon may be linked to Michael Carrick’s contract coming to an end this summer.
But according to Sky Sports, Tottenham have no intention of selling Dier, who has enjoyed a flurry of two goals in his last four Premier League appearances, strongly suggesting United won’t be able to agree a deal with the White Hart Lane outfit this summer.
