Tottenham Hotspur must surely look to make additions to their squad this summer if they are to continue their challenge for silverware.
There are a number of areas in the Spurs side that could do with some improvement and, with their rivals all likely to make additions, Mauricio Pochettino cannot go into another campaign without freshening things up a little.
However, there is always a risk when making changes to a rather successful squad and it is very difficult to predict how one signing may turn out for the club, regardless of how well they have performed in their career.
Just look at Denis Suarez and his nightmare time at Arsenal.
But, why is he relevant to Tottenham? Well, according to a report by Mundo Deportivo (via HITC Sport), Spurs looked at signing him back in 2017 and were thought to be prepared to splash out £27million for the Barcelona man.
Suarez made just six appearances for Unai Emery’s side during his loan spell this season, which all came from the substitutes bench before injury ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.
A player the Arsenal manager knew well from their time at Sevilla together, the fact that he failed so spectacularly in England was rather alarming.
Pochettino might have a reputation for performing miracles and working wonders with talented players, however, if Emery could not get the best out of a 25-year-old he knows well, then the Argentine may have also struggled.
All in all, Daniel Levy must surely be thankful Arsenal have helped Tottenham realise they dodged a rather expensive bullet.
