Tottenham face their toughest test of the season so far following the conclusion of the international break.

The Lilywhites return to Wembley and face a visit from top of the table Liverpool next weekend. The Reds have won all four of their opening games in the Premier League and could welcome £40m signing Fabinho into the team for his first appearance. Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping for a repeat of last year’s fixture at the national stadium where Tottenham ran out 4-1 winners.

Spurs made history in the summer by becoming the first team since the transfer window was created in 2003 not to sign a single player. With three wins from four, it seems their lack of activity has not hurt them yet. However, if Spurs fail to pick up points in the coming weeks, Pochettino simply must strengthen in January.

A perfect addition to the squad could be Sassuolo forward – Domenico Berardi. Valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, the winger was considered one of Italy’s brightest prospects which prompted Juventus to pay £4m for him back in 2013. He was later loaned back to Sassuolo before re-joining his former club on a permanent deal in 2015 where he remains a key player.

Primarily used on the right wing, Berardi could also operate as the central striker and would provide excellent cover for Harry Kane in the attack. He managed just four goals in the Serie A last season in a difficult campaign but has found the back of the net four times already this campaign. Under Pochettino’s guidance, the 24-year-old could rediscover his goalscoring touch and prove to be a great signing.

If his form continues, Tottenham should definitely bring him to North London in the New Year.
