The Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern really do not need to hear that Jose Mourinho is allegedly keen on a move for key defender Danny Rose as they start their weekend.
According to comments in the Daily Express (while linking back to another story from Don Balon about United and Mezut Ozil), the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ is preparing moves for targets in the forthcoming January transfer window, and one of the players who has been mentioned is Tottenham’s Danny Rose.
Mourinho’s position at United is comparatively uncertain with rumours linking him with a move to PSG in the foreseeable future, though it is believed, that the former Chelsea boss is eager to strengthen his squad in January to augment his side’s chances of winning the Premier League.
One area of United’s team that Mourinho is keen to enhance is in defence, and Danny Rose has reportedly been tipped as the perfect suitor.
Left-back has proven to be a fairly problematic position for United, though Tottenham have enjoyed success in the area during his absence. Though the England star is clearly a top class option in that berth, the form of Ben Davies during Rose’s long-term injury layoff suggests he’s not as important as many thought.
Danny Rose expressed his frustration at the lack of big-name players that Spurs have signed in recent seasons; perhaps this is his opportunity to play alongside some of the more recognised names in the division. Indeed, considering Davies’ form, there could even be a case to suggest Tottenham could get away with selling him, much like Kyle Walker.
