Fernando Llorente must improve on last season’s performances

Fernando Llorente must improve on last season’s performances

Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a perfect start to the campaign thus far and they don’t even look as if they’ve reached fifth gear just yet.

The Lilywhites were heavily criticised for their lack of ambition during the transfer window as they failed to bring in any players after missing out on Jack Grealish. But, this hasn’t fazed them in the slightest as they currently sit in second position on goal difference, with a top four spot well within their sights.

However, as the season progresses a number of different factors will come into effect as injuries and the international breaks will take their toll.

Worryingly, one man who has turned out to be one of the worst signings in the club’s history is Fernando Llorente, who is currently valued at £6.3 million (by Transfermarkt).

Indeed, the Spaniard had a season to forget last time out as he only managed to find the back of the net five times in 31 appearances for the Lilywhites. And, the worrying thing for Tottenham supporters is that the 33-year-old will more than likely be given the nod if Harry Kane is lacking fitness or suffering through injury, due to the lack of cover that the London club currently has at the pinnacle of the attack.

Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping that Llorente can replicate some of his form from pre-season when he’s given a chance in the side, as they could begin to slide down the table if the forwards fails to find his feet in front of goal once again in the current campaign.
