Tottenham supporters in the Transfer Tavern are relishing the 2018/19 Premier League campaign following the news that manager Mauricio Pochettino and striker Harry Kane have signed new long-term deals with the club.

46-year-old Pochettino took over at the North London outfit back in 2014 after impressing at Southampton, and he has since transformed Spurs into one of the best teams in the country with three successive top four finishes in the Premier League. And England international Kane has certainly become one of the best strikers in world football in the last few years in netting a staggering 140 goals in 213 games for Tottenham, with his tally of 41 this term his best season to date.

Subsequently, there are many delighted and indeed positive Spurs fans in the Tavern at present, several of whom are likely to be intrigued by recent comments from Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, who reportedly is seeking to join a ‘big team’ this summer.

And while Unai Emery’s Arsenal have been heavily linked with the £27 million-rated ace (as per Transfermarkt), he should forget about the Gunners as Pochettino’s Spurs, who have been linked with him in the last 12 months, are the big team he must join this summer.

Ultimately, Arsenal have endured a testing few seasons in the last few years in twice finishing outside of the Premier League’s top four, with their sixth place finish this term their lowest since their 12th place effort back in 1995.

Thus, despite Arsene Wenger’s departure over the summer, one could well argue that the Gunners are regressing and slowly but surely losing pace with the other top six clubs in the Premier League, whereas Tottenham appear to be going from strength to strength.

Pochettino’s men finished third this term and 14 points clear of their North London rivals to finish above them for the second successive season, qualifying for Champions League football again whilst Arsenal will be scrapping it out in the Europa League next time round.

Significantly though, N’Zonzi’s incredible midfield talents may be needed at Spurs next season given the uncertainty surrounding the future of Mousa Dembele, what with it looking increasingly likely that the 30-year-old will leave this summer.

And were he to indeed depart the North London club, it would leave a gaping hole in Pochettino’s midfield ranks that will certainly need filling before the season gets underway in August – N’Zonzi could be the man to do just that.

The 29-year-old former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City man has made a name for himself at Sevilla in the last few years to underline his status as one of the most influential central midfielders in Europe – it’s hardly surprising that Emery is seeking a reunion with the Frenchman at Arsenal.

However, Spurs’ recent efforts in the Premier League and seemingly upward trend, alongside Arsenal’s struggles in the league and seeming decline, suggest that the big team N’Zonzi should be joining this summer is Pochettino’s Tottenham, not Emery’s Arsenal.
