Tottenham supporters in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating their side’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Manchester United on Saturday, as Spurs seek to reach the showpiece for the first time since winning the competition back in 1991.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men eased past AFC Wimbledon in round three but made hard work of rounds four and five, needing replays to get past both Newport County and Rochdale to reach the last eight. Yet they then produced their best performance of the competition in battering Swansea City 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium, thus setting up a semi-final meeting with Jose Mourinho’s United at Wembley on Saturday.
As such, there are many optimistic Tottenham fans in the Tavern at present, several of whom are sincerely hoping that their team can indeed go on and win the FA Cup this season, and thus end a decade-long wait for silverware.
In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Spurs supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports linking them with a summer move for Leicester City’s Demarai Gray.
And while the 21-year-old would likely be a good addition to Pochettino’s squad, they should forget about the Englishman and instead seek to land Watford’s £18 million-rated winger Richarlison (as per Transfermarkt).
Ultimately, while the 20-year-old has struggled for form in recent times, the Brazilian star has made a fine start to life in the Premier League this season with five goals and five assists for the Hornets, helping them to the relative safety of mid-table.
Yes, none of those contributions have come in 2018, but the 20-year-old was comfortably one of the most impressive players in the first half of the campaign, and has still managed to net more and set more up than Gray, who has scored three times and laid on just one assist for Claude Puel’s side this season.
In fact, the England Under-21 star has struggled greatly for consistency this season to the point that he isn’t always in the Leicester starting eleven, whereas Richarlison’s efforts in the first half of the campaign underline a huge talent that could go on to become a quality Premier League winger.
Yes, Gray has enormous amounts of potential just waiting to be fulfilled, but Watford’s Richarlison has managed more Premier League goals this term than the Leicester man has managed throughout his time in the Midlands, and at the age of 20, there is plenty more to come.
And who better to hone in on those talents and get him back to his 2017 level than Pochettino, who has evidently improved several young players during his time at both Tottenham and Southampton.
As such, while Gray has huge potential, Richarlison has already begun honing in on that, which is why Spurs should forget about the Leicester star and instead make a move for the Brazilian this summer.
