Forget Rose: Tottenham would find ideal left-back in £22.5m-rated defender

The Tottenham fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are hopeful in thinking that their team will soon be strong enough to launch a substantial challenge for the Premier League title.

With their highly anticipated move to their new ground on the horizon, Tottenham have to match the brand-spanking new home with fresh, brilliant talent on the pitch. Spurs may decide to recruit a new left-back this summer, given Danny Rose’s struggles, and our punters hope it will be Alex Telles of Porto, who is valued at £22.5 million on Transfermarkt.

The Brazilian left-back has again been a massive influencer for Porto going forward and in defence. Having notched up 14 assists in Liga NOS, it’s clear to see that Telles thrives at deliveries into the box, running up and down the wing supporting the attack and also being strong defensively.

At 25-years-old, Alex Telles is reaching his peak performances and a move to Tottenham with the club on an upwards trajectory seems a great fit for both parties.

His pace and dribbling ability is typical Brazilian quality and if Tottenham wanted to play him further forward, Telles is certainly equipped to play as a left-midfielder as well. The Spurs have a great starting eleven, filled with youth and experience, but their squad depth is questionable – meaning the signing of another Brazilian star in the form of Alex Telles would definitely be a wise move ahead of their big stadium switch.

Tottenham want to drop their reputation of being the team to put the pressure on and by signing the 25-year-old,  Tottenham will prove that they mean business. He’d be a great replacement for the ever-frustrating Danny Rose.
