The Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern are still getting over their side’s loss to Manchester City on the weekend. The club’s 14-game unbeaten run in the league was put to a sharp end when Pep Guardiola’s side won 3-1, and to add insult to injury, just three days later the fans are reading a story in The Mirror linking 30-year-old Belgian ace, Mousa Dembele, away from N17 in the summer.

The influential Belgian midfielder has been one of Tottenham’s top performers under the guidance of Pochettino and Spurs fans would have him near the top of the list of players whose contracts they’d like to see renewed. However, Dembele was subject to a number of bids from the far east earlier in the season and could join Fernando Llorente, Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose in leaving N17 this summer.
30-year-old Dembele has a contract with Spurs until summer 2019 and contract talks were opened earlier in the season, although both parties were reportedly happy to put the negotiations on hold until the end of the campaign. Whilst Pochettino won’t want to enter next season without Dembele, the Argentine is keen to cover all bases and the club have lined up two potential replacements for the Belgian in Barcelona’s Andre Gomes and Atalanta’s Bryan Cristante in the event of Dembele making his Spurs bow.

If we sell Dembele, I’m gonna stop supporting Spurs. I swear. Rather I don’t support any team.

He would cost any team wanting to buy him approx between 25 and 30 mill. Is he worth that for a maximum of 3 years playing at a high standard and then his value goes to 0.
