Good news for Tottenham ahead of FA Cup clash

Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern will still be upset about the injury Harry Kane picked up against AFC Bournemouth last weekend, however, they may have something to celebrate after some positive injury news came out.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will need to manage with the England international for the next month as he damaged ankle ligaments in a challenge with Asmir Begovic and will face the Chelsea on April 1. However, attention for Spurs will have been turned to this weekend’s FA Cup fixture with Swansea City and they could welcome back a key defensive figure to the side.

Toby Alderweireld has returned to training with the first-team after his hamstring injury and is already being considered by Pochettino ahead of the tie, according to fitness expert Ben Dinnery on Twitter.

The Belgium international had missed three months of the season between November and February, however, he returned to face Newport County and Rochdale in the competition, however, he felt further discomfort.

Since heading back to the treatment room, the defender has missed five more matches, although he does now appear to be ready to return to action for Spurs.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern will have been delighted to hear the news from Ben Dinnery, as Alderweireld has been a crucial defender for the White Hart Lane outfit when he has been fit. Fans will still be wanting the contract rebel to sort out a new deal to remain at the club, although a deal still seems a long way away.
