The latest update on Tottenham’s Bundesliga transfer target has reached us at the Football Transfer Tavern, with Henry Jackson of Goal.com reckoning that South Korean international striker Son Heung-Min will be staying in Germany this January.
The 20-year-old Hamburg forward has been reportedly attracting interest from the Premier League, with Andre Villas-Boas viewing him as an option to boost his front line for an affordable price.
But Hamburg’s sporting director and former Tottenham represntative Frank Arnesen is optimistic that the highly rated front man will not be going anywhere this transfer window.
The 56-year-old, also formerly of Chelsea, has said he is more than willing to offer the youngster a new contract as he is confident he will develop into a top player in the near future.
“I am confident that we have the financial resources to meet Son’s demands. Of course, we have our limits, but Son is only 20 years old and a big talent. I don’t have any problems with it that we have to pay up in this situation,” Arnesen told Bild.
Son has enjoyed a breakthrough season in Germany, establishing himself as Hamburg’s top forward following the summer departures of strikers Mladen Petric to Fulham and Peruvian Paolo Guerrero to Corinthians.
The forward has earned 11 caps for his country since making his debut in 2010, but has only managed one goal against India in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.
