Tottenham fans in the Tavern are optimistic for next season despite being knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United. Indeed, Spurs fans will be hoping to keep Mauricio Pochettino at the club despite interest in his services.
Spurs failed to mount a title challenge this season and now face a battle to secure Champions League football next season.
Chairman Daniel Levy is under pressure to back Pochettino in the transfer market in the summer to help the Lilywhites compete on multiple fronts next season. Three of the four most significant additions to their playing squad; Lucas Moura, Moussa Sissoko and Serge Aurier were all benched in the defeat to United at the weekend with Fernando Llorente not even in the squad.
With Chelsea and Real Madrid keeping tabs on his situation at Wembley, both who can offer significantly larger transfer budgets, Levy must back Pochettino in the market to keep him at the club.
Valued at £22.5m according to Transfermarkt, Crystal Palace winger, Wilfried Zaha, is believed to be high on his wish list. The Ivorian has been the star of Palace’s season netting seven goals and registering four assists for the Eagles in the league.
The 25-year-old is finally starting to realise his potential following a poor spell back at Manchester United five years ago. Often cited in our bar as the best player outside the top six, he could really impact Spurs going forward. Though talented, the likes of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen or Son don’t offer the same level of unpredictability as Zaha, helping give Spurs another level completely.
Currently, they lack anyone to properly break down opposition and create something out of nothing, so he’d certainly be worth it.
Would Zaha be a good signing for Spurs? Let us know!
