According to The Telegraph, Nathan Ake has perked the interest of Tottenham as they look to replace ageing centre-back Jan Vertonghen. The Dutch international has put in a string of good performances for Bournemouth in the league, who, themselves, have started off the season impressively. Indeed, Ake’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, earning him a call-up for the Netherlands’ League Nation ties against Germany and Belgium.
Currently valued at £40million, Spurs would have a gentleman’s agreement to compete with which allows Chelsea to re-sign the player for his value should they wish to, as well as interest from a number of other top teams who are looking to bolster their defence.
Should Ake join Tottenham in 2019, these are two other players we believe will be brilliant additions to the squad:
Bournemouth’s English midfielder, Lewis Cook, is another player from the squad who deserves the attention of the big clubs. Likened to Luka Modric by teammate Jermaine Defoe in an interview with TalkSport, the young midfielder clearly has a big future ahead of him. Defoe goes on to complement Cook for his ability on the ball, and a confident approach that belongs to the most experienced of players.
Malang Sarr has played at the top level of French football for some years now, despite only being 19-years-of-age. He was an integral part of the 16/17 season squad who finished 3rd place, and has since occupied the starting spot over some of the more senior players, which is telling of his extraordinary talent.
Not to mention, Sarr has recently been dubbed one of the best young players in the world by The Telegraph. Those who have seen the young player perform will notice that he combines elements from both traditional and modern styles of play – with a no-nonsense, physical approach to defending off the ball, and a calm and collected approach on it.
Given that both starting centre-backs’ futures are under scrutiny at Spurs, it seems a good time to invest in one of the games brightest prospects.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
