Though it’s proved to be a frustrating summer for the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern, their win over Newcastle United allayed fears they were about to implode.
Indeed, Danny Rose’s recent comments may have hinted at problems behind the scenes, though few would doubt the quality flowing through the ranks of their starting XI.
Though our local Lillywhites are under no illusions that the club need to bring in talent, they’re wary of panic buying. Having wasted money on the likes of Vincent Janssen and Moussa Sissoko last summer, they don’t want it to happen again.
“We understand they’ve made an enquiry for Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen”, he said on Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre.
“Tottenham not commenting on whether they are listening to offers for Janssen, and Stoke not commenting at all so far.”
The 23-year-old notched just twice in the league last season after an expensive move from AZ Alkmaar, though did impress our Spurs-mad punters with his work rate. However, though Mauricio Pochettino’s squad is really rather thin, they’d be willing to bid him farewell.
If Tottenham can recoup much of the fee they splashed out on him last season, the Dutch international should be sold.
Perhaps there’s more of a player there than we saw in his first season with Spurs, though Tottenham could do with a forward closer to the elite level.
