The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping their side will close the gap to league-leaders Manchester City with a priceless victory in the North-London derby on Saturday.
Mauricio Pochettino takes his side to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime in what promises to be the highlight fixture of the Premier League schedule this weekend. Securing bragging rights for the Tottenham fans will be firmly on Pochettino’s agenda in the build-up to the match, but he will be more concerned with securing 3 vital points to reduce the gap at the top of the table to just 5 points before City kick-off in Leicester at 3pm.

And the Spurs fans lining up the bar here are fully aware that they can afford few slip-ups, if they wish to catch City this season.
However, Tottenham’s official Twitter page diverted attention away from their weekend clash earlier today, as they announced a 2-year contract extension for their youth-team goalkeeper Brandon Austin.
The supporters on Twitter seem fairly nonplussed by the news concerning Austin’s extension, and plenty of fans have responded to the post by calling for the club to secure the long-term future of Toby Alderweireld.
Alderweireld has been an integral part of Tottenham’s development in recent seasons, and his fantastic understanding with Jan Vertonghen at centre-back has brought much-needed solidity to their defence.
Even though Alderweireld has over 2 and a half years remaining on his current deal, a growing number of Tottenham supporters want to see his deal extended to deter interest from rival clubs.
Here’s what the fans had to say in response to the post on Twitter…
