The Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern are starting to sweat over the complexion of their campaign. Indeed, any hopes for a genuine title tilt have quickly faded into obscurity and many of our local Lillywhites are fretting over a top four finish.
Though Mauricio Pochettino and his merry men appear to be over their Wembley hoodoo, our north London locals are often found wondering whether or not it will be enough to ensure Champions League football is on show next season, their first in the new White Hart Lane.
With that in mind, comments from Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones in his extensive look at Manchester United’s January transfer plans in regard to a Spurs star have only added to the worry. He’s revealed that England international Danny Rose wants a move away from the club amid his links with a move up to Old Trafford.
It’s further explained that Tottenham are unlikely to sell such a key player at this point and will reportedly look to hold off until the summer window opens in a few months. While many would back Daniel Levy to do exactly that, the idea that a man so key to Tottenham’s system wants out is a scary one indeed, with so much on the line right now.
It’s barely a surprise that Rose wants out after the explosive interview he gave to the Sun last summer. Still, the most important thing for Tottenham is keeping a lid on it and maintaining a happy camp, one pulling in one direction to try and deliver European football next season.
