Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern really are hoping that Mauricio Pochettino is going to spend big in the transfer market with there less than a month to go.
Indeed, the Lilywhites have not spent a penny up until now and many fans of the club are thinking that that might not be the best way forward if they want to challenge again for the Premier League title.
Indeed, all the sides around them in the top six have spent money to improve their squads and – as quoted by TeamTalk – it does appear as though Poch does want to spend.
The Argentine boss has said:
“How have Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and different clubs tried to improve their season?
“Bringing players and trying to put more pressure on their star players, their key players – and for us we need to do that too.”
For sure, then, it seems as though the former Southampton manager wants to see Daniel Levy get the chequebook out before too long but it still seems as though the club isn’t that near signing a new player.
Certainly, then, our resident Spurs punters are hoping that that changes before too long.
As far as first XI’s go, Spurs have one of, if not, the strongest teams going in the Premier League but football is a squad game and that is where the Lilywhites still look a bit short.
Sure, they don’t want to waste money on average players but with the clubs around them all signing quality, the men from north London really should consider trying to get a couple of extra top class players in.
