The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are disappointed to again be trophyless this season and the theme of bottling at the pinnacle moment has continued.
Tottenham are a side full of quality players but still, they cannot seem to win anything full-stop. Whether they will be able to keep all their top performers this summer is uncertain as some may follow in Kyle Walker’s footsteps, by jumping ship to win trophies. Fans of Spurs wouldn’t blame these players either but hope and pray that players such as Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane and Dele Alli remain with Tottenham for the foreseeable future.
One player who would certainly be a welcome addition, on the other hand, is Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt, who is valued at £22.50 million on Transfermarkt. The 18-year-old has been a prominent figure for Ajax already for much of his professional career, having made 37 appearances this season so far.
The former team-mate of Davinson Sanchez has already accumulated a lot of interest around him and it seems imminent that he will leave Holland for one of Europe’s best teams. Indeed, the idea of the two forming a new partnership over in N17 has delighted our punters no end.
With the uncertainty of Toby Alderweireld and his Tottenham future, if the Belgian was to leave, which is something far from ideal, Spurs can make light of a bad situation with the capture of the Dutchman instead.
The 18-year-old has already proven to be a top defender and with his physical presence, height and desire combined, the future looks bright for the Ajax star and Tottenham would be mad not to challenge for his signature.
