Here in the Tavern, Spurs fans are delighted with the array of attacking talent manager Mauricio Pochettino has at his disposal as they continue their total resurgence as a club to become one of the league’s best.
Tottenham have again had a strong season this year and still remain in reach to target a top-four spot as well as progression in the FA Cup and the Champions League. This has been largely thanks to the talented attackers such as Harry Kane, Son Heung Min and Christian Eriksen bagging the goals and creating chances for other team-mates around them.
With that in mind, if they want to continue their progression of recent years then Spurs should dabble themselves in the transfer market this summer and in particular, look at Germany international Max Meyer, who is valued at £14.40 million according to Transfermarkt.
Meyer has been ever-present in the Bundesliga with Schalke for years now but this summer, the 22-year-old’s current deal will run out and he is yet to agree to a new one, meaning Spurs could acquire his services for free. Tottenham have been long-term admirers of the young German and this upcoming transfer window could finally be the time that we see Meyer in the white of one of England’s best sides.
Competition will surely be fierce for Meyer but if Spurs act quickly to secure his signature, this will be a positive move as he still has years ahead of him to improve. The 22-year-old can play in a number of positions, from a defensive midfielder to the man in behind the striker, giving Mauricio Pochettino a number of options as he battles on a number of fronts.
Us fans around the bar would love to see Max Meyer in the Premier League to assess what all the hype is about but what are your thoughts Tottenham fans?
Good move on a free?
