Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern could be in for a challenging summer as a host of departures could be on the cards.
Spurs have a number of players currently on their books that have attracted interest from some of Europe’s top clubs, with midfielder Mousa Dembele one of those high on people’s wishlists.
However, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph, chairman Daniel Levy will not let him leave for anything under £20 million, as the likes of Inter Milan reportedly step up their chase for the Belgium international.
The 30-year-old is set to enter the final year of his contract and despite his injury concerns over the past couple of seasons, the Tottenham chairman still values him highly given his recurrent impressive efforts in the heart of Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield.
And were Levy to indeed sanction the Belgian ace’s departure this summer, our resident Spurs fans like their chairman will hope for a sizeable sum of money for the 30-year-old’s services.
Landlord’s Verdict: Levy has been known as a tough negotiator and usually gets what he wants when it comes down to player sales.
The chairman will want to ensure he can get a return of the £15 million he spent on the 30-year-old from Fulham in 2012, and is unlikely to be fazed that he could lose him for nothing next summer.
It has been rumoured that Dembele is not prepared to commit his future to the club until the World Cup is finished, yet Spurs will hit the transfer market to make sure they have adequate cover for when he does finally depart White Hart Lane.
