According to a recent report from The Sun, Tottenham are one of many teams keeping close tabs on Jadon Sancho. The 18-year-old currently plays his football at Bundesliga heavyweights Borussia Dortmund having left Manchester City little over a year ago, and he has certainly proven his worth to the German outfit in recent times.

And reports suggest that Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs are one side keen on the £18 million-rated gem (as per Transfermarkt), who has been named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this fortnight’s international break, and given Pochettino’s willingness to give young players a chance and thus improve them, linking up with the Argentine could prove to be Sancho’s best chance of going to the top of the game.

The Breakdown

Ultimately, Pochettino has become one of the most highly-rated managers in English and indeed European football since his arrival in the Premier League with Southampton back in 2013, from which he earned the Tottenham job a year later.

And while the Argentine has yet to win a trophy in charge of the North London club, he has transformed them into one of the best teams in the country, and some of that success has been as a result of the 46-year-old giving young players an opportunity to shine.

The likes of Dele Alli, Eric Dier, and Harry Kane have all benefited greatly from Pochettino’s policy with regards to young players, with all three becoming vital members of the Spurs squad during the Argentine’s tenure, and indeed becoming crucial players for their country as well.

Add in Harry Winks at Tottenham and indeed Luke Shaw at Southampton, and Pochettino’s track record of improving and developing young players is second-to-none - and that should be of keen interest to Dortmund’s Sancho.

The 18-year-old has been a revelation at the German side in recent months, finishing last season strongly with a goal and three assists in his last six Bundesliga appearances, before turning that up a notch in the early phase of this campaign.

The Englishman has bagged once and laid on an incredible seven assists in just seven league appearances for Lucien Favre’s side, which is even more impressive when one considers that he has started only once in the Bundesliga this term - clearly, when he’s on the pitch, Sancho makes a difference.

And at the tender age of 18, it appears as though the ex-City gem has an extremely bright future in the game and could go to the very top, yet his next move and indeed moves will play a big part in that trajectory.

And having seen the likes of Alli, who has been linked with Real Madrid, Dier, who has been linked with Manchester United in the last 12 months, and Kane, who has also been linked with Real, enjoy meteoric rises under Pochettino, a move to Tottenham could be Sancho’s best chance of reaching the summit of the sport.
