The Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern are still absolutely delighted about the fact they saw their side overcome their Wembley woe on Wednesday.
Indeed, seeing Harry Kane put two past Borussia Dortmund in a 3-1 Champions League win, our north London locals believe Mauricio Pochettino’s side can finally get over the strange hoodoo that hung over them at the home of national football.
Still, our local Lillywhites simply cannot wait to get into their new home next year, though a report from the Times suggests it could be the beginning of the end for one of their biggest stars.
They claim Daniel Levy will consider selling Dele Alli after the England international spends one year in the revamped White Hart Lane. That would be in the summer of 2019, so not a world away, though they do also suggest the 21-year-old is ‘likely’ to get a new contract this season.
He currently has five years left, though an improved offer could be on the way for a man who has taken the Premier League by storm since arriving in the summer of 2015.
Considering his standing in the world game, our punters would not be surprised to see their playmaker end up at the likes of Real Madrid.
Selling Alli in the summer of 2019 is probably the best possible outcome for Tottenham. Indeed, he seems destined to go to the very top of world football and, with all due respect, that won’t be with Spurs.
Could be world record player by that time.
