Manchester United and Chelsea set to battle it out for Hamburg star

heungminson.jpgWe love a transfer tug-of-war here in the Football Transfer Tavern, and Alan Nixon of the Daily Mirror reckons we are set for one between Manchester United and Chelsea in the summer.

The two clubs are reportedly set to battle it out for the signature of Hamburg forward Son Heung-Min – the rising South Korean star of the Bundesliga.

Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly already sent his scouts to watch the exciting young forward, who is thought to be available for a fee in the region of £10 million.

Chelsea would also be interested in the player, who has been compared to none other than Cristiano Ronaldo in Germany, for his goals and showboating.

The 6 ft plus 20-year-old has been a regular for the South Korean national side since his debut three seasons ago, and has an impressive goal return of one in three in during his spell in the Bundesliga.

Chelsea are thought to be especially aware of Son’s appeal to supporters in the Far East, where he could easily become the most significant player in the next decade if he continues to improve.

Roman Abramovich has never fully exploited the lucrative market, and having been suitably impressed by Son’s ability, is set to battle it out with United for his signature in the sumer.
