More injury news for Tottenham fans with key man likely out until September

It’s been a mightily frustrating summer for the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern, who were hoping to see Mauricio Pochettino significantly add to his ranks following their second-place finish last term.

Indeed, with Kyle Walker sold, the coffers were given a massive boost earlier on in the windows, our local Lillywhites can’t quite work out why not one player has walked through the door on Hotspur Way.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Kieran Trippier’s recent injury has left Pochettino with a full-back problem heading into the new campaign, as Spurs prepare to face newly-promoted Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

Now, reports from ESPN have darkened the mood even further in our bar. They claim fellow full-back Danny Rose is expected to miss ALL of Tottenham’s football in August as the club do not want to rush the England international back.

The 27-year-old underwent knee surgery in May and hasn’t featured since January, when he picked up his ailment away at Sunderland, with Ben Davies largely operating as his back up for Pochettino.

Undoubtedly one of the best full-backs in the Premier League, Rose’s absence is a blow for Tottenham and their fans here in the bar, who were hoping to see him return.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Rose’s absence, as well as one of a right-back, significantly weakens Tottenham with both he and Trippier vital to the brand of football imposed by Pochettino.

Still, Wales international Ben Davies has stepped up when given his chance and should be solid enough to do a job while Rose continues to nurse his way back to full health.
