Newcastle battle ambitious Leeds in race to seal playmaker coup

The Premier League may well take most of the headlines during silly season, though the money in the English game ensures the Football League fans in the Transfer Tavern don’t go hungry.

Two titans of the second tier, Newcastle United and Leeds United, are reportedly ready to battle it out to seal a raid on Tottenham Hotspur.

England under-21 international Alex Pritchard, who is thought to have been made available by the North London outfit, is said to be a target for both Rafa Benitez and Garry Monk as they plot promotion pushes.

According to the Daily Mirror, both second tier giants will compete for a loan deal, while Swansea City are understood to be ready to pay up to £8m to keep him in the Premier League.

Despite being highly rated at White Hart Lane, the 23-year old saw his progress derailed by an injury, while he struggled to command much of a starting berth while on loan with West Bromwich Albion.

Who out of Benitez, Monk or Guidolin would Pritchard flourish under most? Let us know below…
