The Tottenham fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are extremely excited for the future at their new stadium but realise it won’t be a worthwhile move until they have some trophies to fill the cabinets with.
Spurs have been the team to put the pressure on title rivals for the past few seasons, much like a pacemaker in other sports which then slowly fizzle away. It’s not that Tottenham don’t have good players either because they certainly do, the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen are the reason Spurs again find themselves qualified for the Champions League. However, their big floor is in squad depth and the perfect reinforcement to address that is Benfica’s Pizzi, a creative midfielder valued at £18 million on Transfermarkt.
The 28-year-old has reached the peak of his form in the last few seasons, something that Tottenham could profit from should they gain his signature this summer. Having made 45 appearances in total last season, Pizzi helped his side by adding 6 goals and 12 assists from the heart of midfield. The Portuguese creative spark likes mainly to play as an attacking midfielder but alternatively can play on the right flank if necessary for his team.
Tottenham are short of Christian Eriksen competition as good as he is and if he ever got injured as well, Pizzi is more than capable of filling the Dane’s void for Tottenham. Spurs would be signing a player in top form and ready to prove that he isn’t just a success in Portugal, yet he can be impressive in the toughest league of them all.
