According to a recent report from The Daily Mail, Tottenham are interested in a January move for Jack Clarke. The 18-year-old currently plays his football at Championship table-toppers Leeds United having come up through the ranks at the Yorkshire giants, with his fine start to life in professional football seemingly attracting the interest of Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.

And that’s because reports suggest that the North Londoners, alongside fellow Premier League outfits Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, are interested in a move for the wing sensation, with the Pochettino factor underlining that a move to Tottenham could help the 18-year-old sensation become a star.

The Breakdown

Ultimately, throughout his time in English football at both Southampton and now Tottenham, Pochettino has proven to be an outstanding coach who gets the very best out of his group of players, but he is also hugely willing to give young players an opportunity in the first team.

Luke Shaw came on leaps and bounds under the Argentine during their time together at Southampton to thus earn a big money move to Manchester United, while the likes of Dele Alli, Eric Dier, and Harry Kane have all improved greatly at Spurs to become integral players for both club and country.

And Pochettino’s desire to nurture and develop those youngsters into stars is one facet of the Argentine’s excellent management skills, and working under the 46-year-old at Tottenham would surely be of interest to Leeds’ Clarke as he seeks to make a name for himself in the game.

Ultimately, it was only back in October last year in which the 18-year-old made his senior debut for Leeds in coming on as a substitute in their 1-1 draw with Brentford in the Championship, yet that has since paved the way for the emergence of a Whites gem.

And that’s because the winger has since gone on to net two goals and lay on two assists in 11 further league appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s men, a goal and an assist of which have come in his last two league games to underline the growing influence the 18-year-old is having at Elland Road.

And with appearances in each of Leeds’ last nine Championship matches, some of which have seen him brought on at half-time, he’s clearly a player that is highly-rated by manager Bielsa and someone he feels can play a part in their promotion challenge this term - ultimately, the 18-year-old looks set for an extremely bright future.

And given how well Alli has done making the step up from the EFL to the Premier League, and indeed James Maddison at Leicester City this season, Clarke could well turn out to be another - and there’d be no better place for him to do just that than under Pochettino at Tottenham.

Yes, interest from Bournemouth and Crystal Palace may intrigue Clarke given the greater likelihood of first team football, but the chance to work under Pochettino, and thus benefit from his outstanding coaching and willingness to afford young players the chance in the first team, must trump both those options.

And given the Pochettino factor, a move to Spurs may well see the 18-year-old sensation become the star his potential suggests he can be.
