Tottenham fans here in the Tavern are still yet to get over the disappointment of Wednesday night’s Champions League exit, after losing 2-1 to Italian giants Juventus in their round of 16 tie.
Spurs were hoping to go all the way in this season’s European competition, as they looked to improve on group stage victories against Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund with another upset in the knockout stages. Indeed, the Lilywhites were looking like an unstoppable force after coming back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 in the first-leg against Juventus, but a poor second half performance at Wembley on Wednesday night saw the London club crash out in a disappointing manner.
Encouragingly, Mauricio Pochettino can still save Spurs’ season with qualification for next year’s Champions League competition, as a top-four spot is well within their grasp. Although, he may have to put all of his trust into a couple of the club’s youngsters to help bring success, with there being some evident improvements needed in the current Tottenham side.
