The Tottenham fans in and around the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their ambitious move to their new stadium is matched with equally ambitious summer signings to bolster their squad.
Tottenham were content with their season as they again managed to secure Champions League qualification with a 3rd place finish in the Premier League. Although the perception is that Spurs tend to bottle winning trophies, Mauricio Pochettino has done a sterling job keeping Tottenham in contention for the top four. If Tottenham are planning to strengthen for the future, one player our punters would like to see brought in is Abdou Diallo, who is valued at £9 million on Transfermarkt.
The young Frenchman plays for German side Mainz and in his debut season in the Bundesliga, managed to play 30 games and during those scored three times as well as assisting a goal. Diallo mainly play’s as a centre-back but can also play as a left-back, something that would certainly appeal to Tottenham seeing as Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld are looking likely to leave the club. Although you can’t necessarily say that Tottenham should buy a one-season wonder, Diallo looks to have the makings of a top defender, with dribbling and strong tackling being his top strengths.
Tottenham aren’t particularly known for being big-spenders so building for the future is a good idea that could improve them for the next few seasons. Pochettino, having just penned a long-term deal, should look at bringing in players who not only are good now but could be part of the big future Spurs hope to build.
