Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to add a number of bodies in the summer window in a bid to finally end their silverware drought next season, and fans in the Transfer Tavern will thus be expecting some big names to come in.
And, according to Argentina media outlet AS, Spurs are interested in bringing Giovanni Simeone to North London should they lose Harry Kane.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are expected to have to try and fend off interest from the likes of Real Madrid who are rumoured to be keen on the England international – however, they have identified the Fiorentina star as a possible replacement for the 24-year-old.
22-year-old Simeone, who is the son of Atletico Madrid boss Diego, has enjoyed an impressive spell in Florence and netted a hat-trick at the weekend against Napoli to all but end their hopes of dethroning Juventus as Serie A champions.
However, Tottenham will not be the only club interested in the forward, with rumours that almost ‘half of Europe’ are monitoring his situation, with clubs in Italy and Spain all ready to pounce for the €30 million man.
It is believed that Simeone is happy at the moment and not prepared to listen to any of the links surrounding him – however, it could be difficult in the summer to ignore the possibility of moving to a bigger side.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Spurs fans in the Tavern will be hoping they do not have to let Kane leave the club in what could be a pivotal summer at the North London club, what with speculation mounting over the futures of Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, and Mousa Dembele, to name but a few.
However, they will be pleased with the possibility of Simeone replacing goal-scoring ace Kane, as the youngster has already shown he can be prolific in the Serie A, although locals will be intrigued to see what he can offer in the Premier League should he arrive in the summer.
