Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern will be encouraged with the news coming out that they could be able to sign one of their main targets this summer, and they will surely be urging the club to do all they can to make a deal happen.
French media publication L’Equipe have suggested that Bordeaux’s Malcom is set to leave the club in the summer, with one of the majority shareholder’s confirming the news at the AGM.
Nicolas de Tavernost has stated that the club will need to let the player leave the club as he no longer wants to be there. The shareholder did not reveal the player’s name, although he stated his nationality, which has prompted wide rumours that he is indeed talking about the 21-year-old, who has been linked with a move away in recent months.
He is quoted as saying (by L’Equipe): ‘There is a major player from Brazil who you know wants to leave the club and we will do that in all of our interests.’
‘It is the reason we bought this player in the first place, to eventually sell him in between seasons.’
Tottenham are one side to have been credited with an interest in him in, having failed attempts to sign him in the winter, yet these recent reports casting huge doubt on Malcom’s future are sure to encourage Tottenham chief Mauricio Pochettino, as he seeks to lure the 21-year-old sensation to North London this summer.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Spurs locals in the Tavern will be keen for the club to bring Malcom to the Premier League after he has impressed in Ligue 1 with nine goals and eight assists in 30 appearances, with many of the belief that he can offer them something more when going forward.
