Potentially encouraging transfer reports emerge for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to strengthen their squad in the summer, and fans in the Transfer Tavern will no doubt be encouraged by some recent transfer reports.

Spurs have been chasing Matthijs de Ligt for a while and, according to reports in Holland, the defender has told Ajax that he wants to leave in the summer.

De Telegraaf are reporting that the 19-year-old has told his agent Mino Raiola that he wants to leave the Amsterdam Arena, which has put a number of high-profile clubs on notice.

The likes of Barcelona, Manchester City and Bayern Munich have all been impressed with the central defender and with the latest news coming out, Spurs Mauricio Pochettino will surely want his side to act quickly to get their man through the door during the close season.

Landlord’s Verdict: The Tottenham fans in the Tavern will want the club to act quickly should De Ligt be available this summer, as they will need to bring defensive reinforcements to White Hart Lane in the summer.

Toby Alderweireld is expected to depart and the locals will see the teenager as an ideal replacement, and as such will hope that Pochettino can continue his ways with young talent in developing them into world-class stars.

De Ligt would be able to settle in quickly at Spurs, with former team-mate Davinson Sanchez already at the club following his switch last summer, with Ajax reportedly commanding a figure of around £50 million for them to join up once again.
