Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern really do feel they can still reel in Chelsea, even if everyone else is telling them otherwise.
The Lilywhites are the Blues’ closest challengers, if you can call them close, with them ten points behind with ten games to go.
Even so, they should still be credited for another good season with Mauricio Pochettino once again getting the best out of his squad.
Indeed, he certainly knows how to get his team playing and the strength in depth is impressive, too – something Martin Keown has referred to recently.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live – via Football Insider – he made this bold claim about second choice right back, Kieran Trippier:
“Trippier is a player that has been excellent for Tottenham and if he was in any other team, he would be playing.”
Essentially for Keown, then, the right back would start in any other side in the league but it’s only due to the fact that Kyle Walker is at Spurs that he doesn’t start at White Hart Lane.
A very big claim, indeed, and one our landlord isn’t so sure he agrees with given the likes of Nathaniel Clyne, Hector Bellerin and Cesar Azpilicueta are also knocking about on these shores.
